Heteranthera Zosterifolia, Common Names: Water Stargrass, Star Grass, Mud Plantain. Region found: South America. Height: 30-50cm. Width: 10-15cm. Light: High-Very High. Temp: 18-30C. Hardness: Soft-Hard. pH: 5.5-8. Speed of growth: Fast. Demands: Easy. This plant has been one of my favourite plants in my tank. I have used it in many areas but find it best as a background plant or if kept pruned properly can be used as a mid ground plant. Plant can get very bushy very fast, mainly on the upper portions. Needs to be trimmed out otherwise no light will get to the lower leaves and stem area and plant will just rot and die on you. This plant tends to be more of a water column feeder that grows roots up the stem. Needs Iron addition to the water.
